We traveled to Maui in September with two of our closest friends for a celebration of our 20th happy Anniversary together. We booked the “Private Hana Adventure” tour on September 27, 2011 with Hawaii Chauffeured Services. We had the awesome experience of having the ultimate tour guide, Paul, on our full circle Hana journey. He was “da bomb”.
It was the first time that any of us had been to Maui. Paul truly opened our eyes to the beauty of the island. We learned so much under his watch. From the laid back culture of Paia while visiting the local coffee shop for a hearty breakfast to the quirky characteristics of some of the local roadside vendors, we were thoroughly educated, entertained and inspired.
Paul did so much more than give us the “Points of Interest” breakdown of the journey to Hana. We learned about the history and culture of the islands, and the deep family values that make Maui unique.
The flora and fauna found throughout the Hana journey was immense. Without Paul’s roadside stops and helpful background information on what we were seeing, a lot of the beauty would have been missed if we had chosen to drive ourselves. Photo opportunities missed by the drive yourself groups were not missed with Paul as your guide. Paul always gave us a head’s up to upcoming once in a lifetime shots.
Paul had prepared for every detail of our journey from the complimentary breakfast and lunch to the warm banana bread and roasted coconut chips. Even extra cough drops and sanitizer were welcomed that day for an unexpected cold.
The changing faces of the geography of Maui are like nothing we have seen before. It felt like we were visiting four different worlds on the same day. The ocean was so calm the day of our trip; we couldn’t even see a whitecap. I hope all the fishermen out that day had as great of experience as we did on the Road to Hana.
If you are thinking of driving the Road to Hana yourself don’t. Use the totally relaxed and crazy comfortable services of Chauffeured Services. We have been on other driving tours in other countries and states ranging from large bus tours & van tours to SUV tours. We want to learn about and appreciate the destinations that we choose to visit with our minimally allotted vacation time. We felt like we left Maui with a true appreciation for its beauty, its history and its values.
Thanks for making our holiday a vivid, memorable and “mo bettah” Maui experience.
